Swollen,purple branch-nodes.!

On August 7 2006 I observed these purple streaks.

I wonder what caused this purple swelling of the branching nodes of my Banana pepper plants..? Is it normal with maturing peppers.?

I applied two shots of Piranha, Tarantula and Voodoo Juice to my garden, and in many places I noticed these kinds of swelling appear. The garden was many weeks old before I applied these beneficial microbes.

I'm guessing that it's bacteria that have caused the swelling and pigmentation, by lodging in the stem, after being uptaken by the roots. Growth of branches and flowers went crazy beyond these swollen nodes.
